Mitchell, South Dakota was the first stop on our road trip to Wyoming. We had never been to a corn palace before and we really wanted to see what it was all about. We learned that it is the only one in the world.

It is a big building which is amazing actually. If you get up close, you can see all the corncobs. Who ever thought of making a palace out of corncobs? Maybe it is bored farmers here in the heartland? All the pictures, words, and decorations on the building that you see are made with corncobs.

Around the side of the building they have a place with photos and the history of the Corn Palace. Mitchell, South Dakota is a smaller town, and this palace is really the main focus of the entire town. The Corn Palace is over one hundred years old which is crazy!

There are some photo opps for the tourists. If you know us, you know we love good photo opps when we travel. All the murals on this side of the building are also made with corncobs.

We saved the most corny photo for last. This is the cutest corncob ever, but who ever thought corn cobs would be cute? We would not go out of our way to visit Mitchell and the Corn Palace, but it is something fun to see once in a quick pit stop. By the way, the weather was beautiful, but as it was our entire trip, it was super windy!
