Today we celebrate Memorial Day 2023. Madison and I are the only flag holders in the family which works out well. We have one flag for the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom and one for the K9’s who died for our freedom.

In our area, Fort Snelling National Cemetery is one of seven national cemeteries created between the world wars, 1934–1939, to increase the size of the national cemetery system. They hold a huge service to honor the fallen every Memorial day. Dogs are not allowed on the cemetery grounds, but Emma sneaked in back in 2015 and took this quick photo. Mom is not good about following rules sometimes.

While we celebrate with travel, grilling, family, and friends, always remember the reason why we are celebrating this day.
